About this item

“There are people today who are going through an onslaught of destruction that paralyzes all our platitudes and preaching; the only thing that will bring relief is the consolation of Christ.” —Oswald Chambers, Our Ultimate Refuge

Every one of us encounters suffering. As believers, how should we respond, especially when we don’t understand why a good God would allow it to happen?

That’s one of the questions noted author and pastor Oswald Chambers addresses in Our Ultimate Refuge. An unflinching walk through Job, this book started as a series of messages given to soldiers experiencing the horrors of World War I and it has encouraged countless believers in the one hundred years since.

Chambers addresses the problem of pain and God’s work in the midst of it. Throughout these pages you’ll:

  • Learn how suffering allows us to better understand the meaning of redemption.
  • Discover how Job’s posture toward his suffering can help you through your own trials.
  • Find lasting hope in the truth that God is our ultimate and only refuge.

Let Our Ultimate Refuge be a balm to your weary soul and a blessing to those enduring difficult times.

Also available as an eBook from your favorite digital retailer.

Oswald Chambers

Oswald Chambers was born in Scotland and spent much of his boyhood there. His ministry of teaching and preaching took him for a time to the United States and Japan. The last six years of his life were spent as principal of the Bible Training College in London and as a chaplain to British Commonwealth troops in Egypt during World War 1. After his death, the books which bear his name were compiled by his wife from her own verbatim shorthand notes of his talks.
